Flu Vaccination 2020
Flu vaccinations 2020
We started this years NHS flu vaccinations in early September.
This year it is especially important that all those eligible have their annual flu jab. The government have announced that all over 50s will be offered the jab this year, in addition to the usual groups who are over 65 or have certain medical conditions. The usual groups will be vaccinated first, followed by those aged 50-64 once more vaccine is available later on in the autumn. Further information can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/flu-influenza-vaccine/
We will be writing to every patient that is eligible. The letter will contain a bar code. Please ensure that you bring this letter to your appointment - we will not be able to give the vaccination without this letter. Please do not contact the practice to book until you have received your letter. Rather than receiving our bulk order early in the season, this year the vaccines are being released in weekly batches. Therefore we are having to be careful that we do not have more appointments made than we actually have vaccine stock for each week.
When booking, you will be allocated a 15 minute time window in which to attend so that we can control the numbers safely - please do keep to the time you are given.
We will be running clinics slightly differently this year to ensure they are Covid-safe, with social distancing, operating a one-way system within the building and patients need to wear a face covering when attending. Most clinics will be at Silverdale, but there will be some at Ryecroft also. If weather permits, we aim to hold the main clinics on the car park, but otherwise we plan to work indoors with Covid precautions.
Patients should wear clothes which will make it easy to expose one of your shoulders and wear a face covering.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our clinics soon
